Tibet Tour FAQ 2026 – Quick Answers to Common Questions

A: The best seasons to travel to Tibet are April to June..September to October. In April, Linzhi's cherry blossoms are in full bloom. May to June brings stable weather and clear skies — the golden season for Everest Base Camp and Nam Co Lake. September to October offers crisp autumn air, perfect for photographing snow-capped peaks and alpine lakes.November to February (Winter)文though temperatures are lower, crowds are minimal and prices more affordable. It's also the season to explore the hidden blue ice caves of Yalong Glacier — a top pick for off-the-beaten-path travelers. We recommend avoiding July to August, when the rainy season can cause road closures in mountain areas.
A: Tibet tour prices vary by duration and travel style. Our small group tours typically include accommodation, transportation, guide services, and entrance fees —starting from CNY 7,000–9,000 for 5 days, and CNY 9,000–13,000 for 8–10 days,以上费用不含国际机票。CITS 所有行程纯玩无购物,住宿全程严选供氧酒店,性价比高。
A: Foreign visitors (including those from Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Malaysia) must obtain a Chinese visa or Taiwan Compatriot Permit, plus an additionalTibet Travel Permit (physical permit required). For restricted areas such as Ali and Everest Base Camp, an additional边境许可证。入藏函须通过合法旅行社申请,无法个人办理,这也是西藏无法完全自由行的主因。CITS 可协助全程代办。
A: Lhasa sits at approximately 3,650 meters above sea level. Altitude sickness varies from person to person; common symptoms include headaches, shortness of breath, and insomnia.Prevention measures include:resting fully for the first 24 hours after arrival, staying well hydrated, and avoiding strenuous physical activity. Taking altitude medication such as Diamox or Rhodiola rosea supplements in advance is also recommended. Most CITS itineraries begin in Linzhi (2,900m) as a lower-altitude acclimatization buffer, with oxygen-supplied hotels throughout — significantly reducing the risk of altitude sickness.
A:西藏旅游必须跟团— independent travel in Tibet is not permitted for foreign visitors. All foreign nationals are required to apply for a Tibet Travel Permit through a licensed travel agency and must be accompanied by a licensed guide throughout the trip. This regulation applies to visitors from the USA, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, and all other foreign nationalities(Regulations for Hong Kong and Macau residents differ slightly — please contact us for details).Choosing an experienced, shopping-free small group tour operator is therefore essential.CITS operates small groups of 4–10 travelers, offering greater flexibility and a far more immersive experience than large group tours.
